Theodore R. Mitchell, 69, died Tuesday in the Poplar Community Hospital. A wake will be held Friday afternoon and night in the family home in Poplar. Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Guthneck officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar City cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post number 54. He was born August 24, 1905, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mitchell. He served in the Navy in 1928, and during WWII he was a technical inspector for the Air Force in Spokane. After the war he returned to Poplar to live. He married Rose Loran (sic) February 17, 1931, in Wolf Point. He survived by the widow of Poplar, four sons, Col. Ted R. Mitchell, of Anniston, Alabama; M/Sgt. William Mitchell and Henry, both of Fort Lewis, Washington; and Robert of Poplar; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Martin, of Tyler, Texas; Mrs. Lucy Buckles and Mrs. Darlene Smith, both of Poplar; 22 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Clayton Memorial Chapel of Poplar is in charge of arrangements.
Was known to play the fiddle and music, and was also artistic.
Ted was raised by his Aunt Mary LaRoque and her husband and listed as an "adopted son".
