William O. or A. or E. Markley
- Born: Nov 1866 or 1875, Snowshoe, PA
- Marriage: Mary Elizabeth Bachman Markley in 1892
- Died: Between 1920 and 1930
General Notes:
in 1910 census report it shows William working as a fireman for the Railroad
Aunt Bernardine said he was German.
Per 1900 census, he was born in Pennsylvannia and so were his parents. He's working as a fireman for the railroad. The census also says that he was born about 1867 quite a difference from the 1886 Bernardine gave me
Punxsutawney, Jefferson, Pennsylvania he's living with Elizabeth & daughter Ruth at 1900 census.
Bernardine said his death date 1956 but I don't think he lived that long. I found a 1930 census showing Elizabeth or Mary living with her two youngest children, sam and William and saying she was a widow!
Paul, my father, said that Grandfather William had a mental illness and was hospitalized at Danville for one year. He was a great carpenter by trade and built their home. Paul said that Grandma had kicked him out of the house, and shortly after, he died. Paul does not know his burial place.
He was 19 when they married, Elizabeth was 20

I found him living next door to Evelyn and Melvin Dewan (in-law relatives) in a 1930 census document - but william e. markley, not william a. and born in 1866??? Paul said he was still alive in the early 1930's because he remembers meeting him as a young boy, then his grandfather died shortly thereafter.
William married Mary Elizabeth Bachman Markley, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, in 1892. (Mary Elizabeth Bachman Markley was born on 12 Apr 1875 in Dubois, PA and died on 19 Nov 1953.)
