Mary Christy Gordon, a former St. Louisan who taught history at Washington's National Cathedral School, died Wednesday (March 2, 1994) of a brain tumor at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was 62 and lived in Washington.
Miss Gordon, a graduate of John Burroughs School here and of Vassar College, got her master's degree at Columbia University. She taught English at Mary Institute before moving to Washington.
Among the survivors are two sisters, Maude Gordon Thomas of St. Louis and Elisabeth Gordon Aaron of Decatur, Ga.
The body was cremated. A memorial service was held Saturday at National Cathedral in Washington. A second service will be held here in the spring at the Lindell Gordon Jr. Memorial, named after Miss Gordon's late father, in Bee Tree Park in St. Louis County.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the oncology department at Washington University School of Medicine.
