G. Verdon, 75, POplar Pioneer rites Saturday
George Verdon, 75, a long time Poplar resident, died Saturday at the Community Hospital where he had been a patien since 1958. Services will be Saturday at 10am from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Patrick J Ryan officiating. Rosary will be recited tonight (Friday) at 7:00 in Clayton Memorial Chapel, Poplar. Verdon was born NOv 8, 1986 at Lansign, Wis., a son of MOses and Mary Marell Verdon. He served in the service during Wordl War I. Before and after the war, he played semi=pro ball for ten years. He came to Poplar in 1914 and worked as a plumber and a wwell driller. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Douyette of Portland, OR, a niece at Waukasha, Wis, a nephew, Paul Verdon, LIbby, and Mr. and Mrs. ted Mitchell.
