Marion Courchene Hoffman Marion Courchene Hoffman died Jan. 21, 2001, at the home of her sister "Joni" Courchene in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born Nov. 25, 1928, to Phillip and Sarah (Mitchell) Courchene and ten siblings. She attended Wolf Point Schools and graduated from Riverside, CA. She was united in marriage to Luke Hoffman and together they owned and operated a ski lodge in Oregon and two casinos in North Lake Tahoe. Marion was an accomplished musician and was a band leader for the Stardusters and Rhythmettes, an all-girl group wtyio performed throughout the midwest and also on private yacht parties. Her band was booked out of a Beverly Hills Agency in California. Befriended by the owner of :he first motel on the Strip, in Las Vegas in her words, she 'did it all twice." Her beloved daughter, Carla was at her bedside when she succumbed to cancer on Sunday, January 21, 2000, at the home' of her sister Louise "Joni" Courchene in AZ. Cremation has taken place and her ashes sprinkled on the lake she loved most, Lake Tahoe. -
