Last Rites For Mrs. J. R. Mitchell Held Here Monday
Mrs. J. R. Mitchell, 74, passed away at her home in the Greenbrier Community Sunday, October 22, following an illness of several weeks.

The deceased, the former Miss Evie Hensarling, was born in Angelina County and moved with her parents to Madison County when a small girl. On September 27, 1900 she was married to J.R. Mitchell, who preceded her in death by three years. She was a member of the Baptist church and was active in all civic activities of her community. She is survived by three sons, R.L. and E.C. Mitchell of Madisonville and W.L. Mitchell of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Odessa Stewart of Huntsville and Mrs. Lola Moffatt of Houston; two brothers, Lewis Hensarling of Normangee and Jim Hensarling of Madisonville; one sister, Mrs. Lennie Davis of Livingston; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Day Funeral Parlor with Rev. T.R. Wagstaff conducting the service. Burial was in City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Whitmire, Sr., Edward Winters, Glenn Stewart, Jimmy Moffatt, Elmer Hensarling and Forrest Milling.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Moffatt, Mrs. Wilma Prine, Mrs. Lena Day, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Moffatt and Jimmy Moffatt, all of Houston; Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Harrison, Miss Florence Davis, Mrs. Lennie Davis, Adkins Davis and Douglas Sanford, all of Livingston; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hensarling of Dickinson; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hensarling and Mrs. Jim Lee Kyle of Normangee; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hensarling, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hensarling, Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Adams and Jimmy, and Jack Jordan, all of Huntsville; Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Mitchell of Dallas.

Martha married J. R. Mitchell on 27 Sep 1900. (J. R. Mitchell died in 1947.)
