She took care of her father, Dan Mitchell, in his old age, according to his last will and testament. She did not have children.
VERDON'S PLUMBING SHOP A member of the Poplar business community for 35 years prior to his death in 1947 was Alex Verdon, who came from Iowa to Montana in 1912, bringing along a well drilling outfit. In 1915 he married Mary Mitchell, who was born at Fort Buford and lived all of her life in the Poplar area. She also died in 1947. After 1915, Alex was assisted in his well drilling activities by his brother George who passed away in 1962. In addition to well drilling, Alex operated a plumbing business in Poplar for many years. He also served on the Poplar city council for more than a decade. Verdon's built the building where the present Korner Bar is located and lived upstairs.
