Charles Mitchell

  General Notes:

I believe Charles and Mary left Virginia soon after DD Mitchell was born. He was the last child born in Virginia. They moved to Jefferson County, Kentucky where Benjamin was born in 1808. It is unknown when Charles died but he is not shown with Mary later in Henry County. He is also not in the Mitchell cemetery with her. DD must have left Kentucky in the mid 1820's as he signs up with the American Fur Company in St. Louis in 1828 as a young man of only 22 years old.

Charles married Mary "Polly" Garth Mitchell, daughter of David Garth and Frances "Fanny" Sneed or Snead, on 2 Jan 1802 in Louisa County, VA. (Mary "Polly" Garth Mitchell was born on 1 Jan 1779 in Virginia, died on 4 Sep 1843 in Henry County, Kentucky and was buried Mitchell Cemetery on John Mitchell farm 2 miles from Smithfield.)
